Voice allerts too late on nuvi

I'm in contact with garmin at the moment. After using my nuvi 310D for a while now I have found some of the voice allerts come just too late.

For example when driving home from work I come accross 2 roundabouts close to each other, the 1st one is fine but on the second by the time it has told me to enter the roundabout it really should have been telling me which exit I need, then before it has told me what exit I need to be in I'm acctually at the roundabout and it's too late.

Does anyone else find they have this problem, or does anyone know a way around it?
