tomtom one v2 - if battery empty?

hiya.. just got mine as an early xmas present (a gos newbie).. have just subscribled here and put the zoned database & audio alerts on, is a nice system.

was reading through the manual,and it said that if the battery goes flat (it can even go flat when switched off as it uses power to store its state), that it loses all its settings? is this correct?
will i have too re-do all of the POI warnings & other preferences again?
the setup to my razr v3 & vodafone payg takes 5mins, and wouldnt like to go through setting it all up again.

is there any alerts if the battery is getting low?

and would i damage the battery if its left on a usb cable connected to my pc every night?

Not sure why it says that but a flat battery will not affect the settings as these are stored in a config file on the SD card and are retained regardless of battery charge state.

My parents have theirs sat in a drawer for weeks on end and only deploy it when required. No issues at all with flat batteries, simply plug into 12v and away you go
