This has been talked about before. Unfortunately I don't know of one, and to create one would involve an immense amount of work. _________________ Richard

bum! (litterally)
Maybe there's a way that POI's can be created by lots of contributors, like a shared workspace or something? then we could all just add loos to the list as we find them?
wotyafink? |

This was discussed a couple of times in the past. Do a search on "Toilet".
If you can find a map with the locations on it then you could start a poi database yourself, though the consensus was that:
1. They aren't that difficult to find
2. Men didn't have that much problem finding one in a rural area
3. The poi database is the type of thing that would be used by the likes of George Michael and Ron Davies. _________________ Gone fishing! |

If there was a single thing I could add to my GARMIN i3, it would have to be public loos! Thing is, when you need to find one nearby, you need to find it now, not spend half an hour driving round in increasingly desperate circles looking for something which may not even be open!
So here is my wish list: public loos, with opening hours & accessibilty info (eg RADAR key access etc.)
- You can't even download a pdf file of them - it's a total gap in the market - and the RADAR guide book to 7000 loos in the uk costs £12.99 inc.p&p! I'm still waiting to hear if they include postcodes...
Women, children, elderly and / or disabled people (and those who drive them around) are crying out for these!!! |

And please add any that you know of. If everyone did that we'd all be more comfortable!
If you have internet access via your mobile phone you can get details of your nearest toilet from Find a Toilet.
If not, it might be worth checking their website before setting out to visit an area you're not familiar with. _________________ Anita

Oh terrific, a really worthwhile project to add to my task list. I shall download this as soon as I get back from the weekend and will make a great effort with it. Instantly meets one of the wise sayings for old people like me - NEVER pass a public toilet! _________________ Dennis

When you do a town search, if it says 0 towns does that mean that it doesn't have any toilets listed in that town, or does it not recognise the town name? It recognises my local village - the toilet is about the only community facility - but doesn't seem to recognise the names of any of the local larger towns (Wishaw, Hamilton, Motherwell or Coatbridge) or those along the Clyde Coast (Largs, Wemyss Bay or Rothesay). I'm sure that some of these towns have these frightening "auto" toilets, that are open 24hrs, so I don't think it is filtering based on time. I know that the toilet in the Railway Station at Wemyss Bay pier would be open just now. _________________ Jock

That website has a contact address. Would it be worth someone from PGPSW asking "officially" if they would like to do a tie-in with the POI service from here? |

I'm not really familiar with the site. I just came across it last year when searching for any listings of toilets.
I think it only recognises towns for which it has toilets listed, so I suppose it means both of the above!
They should really have the facility to submit details of toilets for verification, like we have for cameras.

Sounds like a good idea, Andy. _________________ Anita

I had a look at the poi a while back and there wasn't many in there, i think I added about 6 that i could think of.
Personally, i think it would be a useful poi for the out of the way places - like vantage points, beaches, scenic views and the like. from experience a lot of our 'tourist attractions' seem to lack basic amenities like toiltes / tea / etc.
In towns, we can always check out Mcdonalds/pubs/ etc for a quick pee.
Just a thought, have to go, prostate trouble _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

I've contacted them through their enquiry form to try to set up a phone call for tomorrow. _________________ Robert Brady |
