Have narrowed my new sat nav search down to the tt one europe and the garmin nuvi 350. Both have pretty much the same spec although I think the garmin takes it as it seams to have more coverage.
Tom tom say the one has the latest maps which date from august 2006 and there will not be another map update for at least a year but I cant find out how old the garmin maps are or when the next/last update will be.
Anyone know.

Garmin are due to update their maps this month according to their support team as in this email:

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe

City Navigator Europe v.9 NT is due for release at the end of December 2006 (mapping updates are released usually every 12 months).

As soon as this is announced on the website there will be information on how the update works.

So the Nuvi might be the one to go for.

Just ordered my Navigator 9 update map disk from the Garmin site. It says that it will be delivered in 7-10 days, but with Christmas coming up I am not betting on getting it before the new year.

As far as I was aware, most new units have been shipping with CN9 for about a month. I guess it depends on how many units your supplier ships and whether he has received a new consignment recently. Version 9 software uses 2006 Navteq data, which is unquestionably better than TeleAtlas data, especially in areas such as the Republic of Ireland.
