Problem Connecting Holux GPSlim 236 to PC

Just recieved this device as part of a blackberry sat nav package (navig8), and wanted to check the devices firmware version. So installed the usb drivers from holux site - but when I connect the device it shows as unrecognised. Any ideas?

Can I check the firmware level some other way (ie via Qtek 9090 connection?). But then how will I upgrade if I cannot connect to PC

The USB cable you got is for charging only. The Holux slim ISNT a USB compatible device despite it having all the right holes.

To connect it to your PC you need a special cable which looks like a USB cable but has a special little box on it that converts the signal to serial.
