Hi I downloaded the Western European map yesterday My broadband speed is a shade under 1mb it took 95mins and is now sitting in the TTHome folder as when I tried to put it on to my 1mb sd card it came up with not enough space! Have ordered a 2mb card and hope it will all go to plan. Do I get rid of the old map through manage maps on the TTOne
or leave it in place!

Reason is downloading a new version of the map ADDS that map to your card, NOT replace the old version hence the need for a bigger card.

If you're confident in the new version, delete the "old" map file first and you "should" be able to use the same size card.

Hi Binman
Thanks a million for the reply I just nuked off the old map and the maps of Western Europe have just loaded and working fine as far as I can tell. Just one other problem, I seem to have the speed cameras still in the folder of Great Brittain when viewed in my card reader but nowhere to be seen when the card is in Tom Tom One! Is there something I should be doing to activate them
Thanks again for the other info
Regards dunk

When you 'nuke' a map then you don't necessarily delete the directory. It's probable that the old map directory is still there. Use your card reader to move the camera files from your old (Great_Britain?) directory to your new (Western_Europe?) one.

All POIs and Favourites are specific to the map you had activated at the time, and are stored in that map's folder.
When you download the new maps they install to a new folder, so you have to manually copy the every POI .ov2, .bmp (and .ogg if you use them) and also the .cfg for your Favourites, into the new map's folder.

TomTom have forgotten to remind people of this. Crying or Very sad

Copy all your speed cams into the Europe map folder (if you want then there too).
Don't forget you need to "change maps" to view the Euro map as it sounds like you've the new Euro map file AND a GB map file.

thanks -- for the info --

I might go down the path of the DVD -- as I am hopeless at the computer down-loadings..

just one other small point -- do you HAVE to have TTHome as well??

Reason being as my previous statement about computers -- a friend who tried HOME got in an awful mess with it...

I do back up my 1G card each month or so - to my desktop - just for safety sake...

The Map comes as a CAB File and if you Un-Zip it to a Folder on your PC it will be exactly the same. Then use a Card Reader to Copy the Map to the SD Card. It's quicker.

Is the European Map street level mapping or just major roads. I have street level for France and would not consider just the major roads as the street level mapping routes me round areas of the Dordogne that you would never see with major road only mapping.
