Nuvi maps

I have a NUVI 310D which i have had nearly a year now. I`am very happy with the setup all though the TMC did not work for the first 6 months is working perfectly now all the time.
My problem is where i live there are many new roads been built or moved as is probably everywhere else in the UK and was wondering if the nuvi will update it`s self to this fact or if i have to purchase another set of maps from somewhere.

I have just bought an i3 last week and it says I need to update it.

Garmin have said not to worry as if anyone has purchased the unit after 1st September 2006, then you get a free update. The update it out at the end of the year, or January 2007 at the latest.

Until then you have to put up with the update warning!

Thank you westyorkshireguy but it is not telling me to update it just does not show the new roads. and having it for over a year i dont think i`ll qualify for free update so think i`ll have to buy one.

The Nuvi (or any other SatNav device) won't automatically update it's map database - the mapping companies charge a per user for map upgrades, so no one provides updates for free.
