No TMC triangle when blockages ahead on Nuvi 310

On a recent trip down the M1 with a work mate who had TomTom on his mobile we decided to see how they compared.

The initial reaction was that the TomTom was estimating a 19:30 arrival and the Nuvi 310 + GTM-12 was estimating a 21:30 and then a 00:30 arival. I shut the unit down and restarted it but everytime was the same.

At this point I decided to look at the route on the browsable map (I wasn't driving!). It was then that I noticed there was a red line the left hand side of our route along the M1 ahead (no triangle at the beginning as usual). I checked the TMC list and there was a red traffic report stating 6 miles of stationary traffic. I selected this report and pressed the avoid button. After it had recalculated it was giving a time very close to the TomTom (albeit with a different route).

Has anyone else had this problem?

Until I have a fix I have decided to keep an eye on the ETA as well as the position the TMC triangle comes up.
