We have now come across the dreaded 48points problem and we dont really know what to do about it
I work for the council and we want to use TT6 + GPS in the gritting vehicles for the gritting routes (we have bought 10 x hp2400 series and 10 copies TT6, the GPS is done by Eagle Eye tracking, they take a feed off the vehicle tracking system into the Brodit holder).
TT6 works fine, follows the road while we are drive etc no problem. We wanted to put the routes in and decided on using ToolsTools to create the itinerary. Slight problem with the software, but we got a fix around by using ToolsTools and TT5. It tracks the route fine (dont know if that has a limit on, but Ive asked the developers). we then wanted to check the route and had to use ITNCONV to change into a .axe for Autoroute 2007, which is not compatible with ITNCONV, so we have found a copy of Autoroute 2006 which is compatible. We can now open the route, adjust for errors, trim, insert points etc. Even plot out on A0 paper the route in colour !!!!! (wish Memory Map could)
Converting from .axe to .itn works, read in TT5 and TT6, but now we have come up against the 48point problem. ITNCONV will allow the splitting of the file into various files, but this is inconvenient and problematic for a driver to stop, mess about loading the file (making sure its the right one) and carrying on.
Anyways that the story so far, weve found the ladder, gone up it a few steps, slipped, gone up a few more and finally decided it doesnt quite reach where we want
We have 2 options, maybe 3, send the gear back and get a refund £4000, make do with split routes, ask TomTom to unlock the 48point limit

copied .itns from 5 to 6 and they still cut off after 48. Our suppliers (eagle eye) said they had a word with TomTom and that the 48 limit didnt apply, I think eagle eye was having us on!

Just an update - I get the same corrupted addresses in 2007 so I tried 2005 and it still came out the same, it may be that 2007 leaves behind some residual non-compatible files.
Any updates would be helpful |

same problem here with MS autroute 2007 and ITNCONV
some facts : Autoroute 2006 and older are OK
TT5 AND TT6 can only handle 48 waypoints
MSAutoroute can handle at least 400 waypoints , never tried more
I have read on a French forum that they have no problem with MS2007 and ITNCONV ( a french program). They suspect the English MS2007 version in combination with ITNCONV. Maybe you contact MS again and suggest the language issue. Another solution the french board suggests is to copy the MS2007 data from the "DATA"and "templates" into a 2006 installation of MS

When I had a problem converting from itn to axe, it was resolved by first converting to gpx/kml then to axe, and I wonder if the reverse could be true. Does AR 2007 convert to any format successfully?
Has anyone tried POIConverter rather than ITNConv? Sorry if this is dealt with earlier in the topic. _________________ Henry |

The data that ITNConv needs is the Optomised Routing element, and it's this part that would seem to be giving the problems. _________________ Richard

Don't know if anything has changed ... but I thought I'd try anyhow ... and it all seems to work fine.. did the itinerary planning on
Autoroute 2007 ( Autoroute version 14.00.09.1100 )
Converted with ITN Converter V 1.55
Loaded onto TT 700 running 6.520 (7690/061002) OS:1387
on Map Western_EuropeMap v660.1256 (don't ask about that and I won't have to lie !!)
The itinary has loaded and browsing it sems to work .. won't know if it actually navigates until next week .. but it all looks good for now

It doesn't work with 2007 - 2005 or earlier only as Microsfot have changed the foramt of thier axe files (the delimeter is the problem) there is no workaround unless a generous programmer of the original ITNconv will look at how to get around this with their programme. You would have thought that Microsoft would have wanted to help as most poeple I know use Autoroute to plan their routes and then a dedicated satnav. |
