Treo 700w/GPSmouse help

I have a GPS mouse that I use with my LT with no problems. I also used it with an Ipaq. I would like to be able to use it with my Treo. It is a serial mouse with a USB converter. I made an adapter that would supply power to the GPS and connected the data lines and Gnd. to the Treo USB sync cable. I have not been able to get it to "see" the GPS. I borrowed a BT DeLorme receiver and it works fine using Com 4. I do not know what the default Com port the Treo uses for the sync cable. Has anyone ever tried this hookup??? I think it is a com port problem but I have tried every concievable combonation with no luck. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

you cannot link two USB clients together. Forget about it.
