I got a reply from Mio support about the version 3.2 upgrade problem.

The reply says that Mitac is aware of the problem (which affects upgrades from version 3 upwards) and that their software engineers are working on a fix.

I wonder if there will also be a facility to upgrade the firmware on the 510/710. I see that there was a facility to upgrade the firmware on the 269 (to add TMC functionality) and that this required the use of a SD card (I assume to limit the opportunity for a failed flash).

I also wonder if some of the system crashes are due to firmware problems and not strictly speaking to problems with Miomap 3.2. It would be interesting to know whether or not 510/710s with the new firmware also experience crashes when using Miomap 3.2.

Wow! Another one with a reply.
Must be me. I'm waiting for at least 10 that are 6 months old. I even re- sent one after someone else got a reply, but still no joy. Grrrr
As Sallyann pointed out, selective replies, it's just not good enough Mio.

i think there are a few problems with Mio:

1. it depends who picks up the message

2. it depends on their competence (or lack of) whether they are able to answer

3. it depends on their knowledge of the English language (or lack of) whether they are able to reply


each and every customer should in theory receive the same level of support Confused
