--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I recently purchased an Ipaq 4150 and Copilot Live v. 4.5. I'm very impressed with both products, and I was able to get up and running with GPS quickly. I have a few questions regarding both products:
1) How do I adjust the backlight on the Ipaq to stay on longer than 5 min's on battery power or 10 min's on external power? If I take a long trip I don't want to have to tap the screen every 5 or 10 min's to be able to see the screen. Is anyone on this forum able to see the screen without the backlight?
2) How do I find the closest POI's from my exact location? If I'm at an intersection in downtown Los Angeles and I need cash, how can I find an ATM near my current location. I know how to find a POI in a given city, but not how to find one from my current GPS track.
3) Has anyone tried an extended battery in their Ipaq 4150? How long do they last compared to the standard batteries?
4) I'm not hearing voice commands as I drive. Isn't a voice supposed to tell me when and where to turn?
Thanks very much. |

I'll answer those questions that I can:
Backlight: if you goto Start|Settings|System and select Backlight you will see the configuration options. Here you can choose to configure the timeout on Battery and External power. I have external power set to not turn off backlight. 5 mins is the maximum timeout, if you wish for longer then you need to set it to not turn off.
Voice Directions: Did you install the voice option when you installed CoPilot? If you can hear all other sounds on the iPAQ then I suspect you need to re-run the CoPilot installation and ensure the voice option is installed.
Extended Battery: There is both a 1800mAh & a 3600mAh battery available, compared to the standard 1000mAh supplied. So you could expect an approximate doubling or tripling of battery time with these. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Since my first posting I've managed to fix the speech issue, although I haven't been able to get the female voice yet. I'm still working on that one. As for the greater capacity batteries, I'd planned on purchasing two 1800mAh batteries for use on long trips (I'm a neat freak and don't like the idea of cluttering up my vehicle with a power cord), but two 3600mAh batteries would be even better. Where can I find those? Will they fit an Ipaq 4155? Thanks |
