I've seen many posts - all of them stating reasonable advice - saying that it's necessary to be careful about the risk of uploading the Pocket GPS camera database to the Mitac database.

Can anyone say if this has actually happened yet? Surely someone must have made the mistake (or done it on purpose). Is the Mitac database consequently corrupted?

Gareth.

Gareth.

I have studied the 'autosync' process very carefully. I don't want to go into details here but I am quite satisfied that Mitac's database is not in any danger of corruption from syncing with a Mio using a different database. The reasons for not doing the sync are (1) the licence under which you obtain the PGPSW database, and (2) it may corrupt the speedcams file on your Mio so that you have to reinstall it.
If you want to check how the Mitac database looks now, you can remove the speedcams and poiupdate files from your Mio, and then do an autosync. It will download to you a fresh copy of their database.
