Where do i put POI's and sound files on my PC so i can use the home software to add/delete files on my TT1 v2 ?
Is it program files/tomtom/???? |

I think you will only be able to do it that way if there is a TOC (Table of Contents) File and the POI's are in a File that has been written in a certain Format.

If you download the PGPSW camera archive for Home and extractthe contents to the path int heprevious post then TomTom home will install the files for you. The archive content has to be in the format that Oldboy quoted in his post.

That is correct shinymera, as is my setup. However, Home also installs another folder called ‘Tom Tom Content’ just above your ‘Tom Tom Home’ folder, at least it did in mine when I first downloaded Home.
It is in this folder that your speed camera .toc and .cab files reside.
All other .toc and .cab files for your POI’s , colour schemes, suntime, etc etc, sit in you ‘Download’ folder. Home picks up any changes in these separate folders ready for you to transfer to your Tom Tom device. That’s how it works for me without any problems so far.
But then again, Home does seem to have a mind of its own for some people, and works in mysterious ways.

I wonder if it has to do with which version of home was installed initially.
I definitely do not have a 'content' folder. I even did a search for 'content*' and while I do have a couple of folders called 'content' or 'contents' none are connected to TomTom.
I've always (re: about a month now) used the downloads folder.
Just goes to show what a truly strange beast TT Home is. |

Yep, you can say that again! But, whatever works for you...
Like most people, I do tend to copy and paste straight into the appropriate folders and then use Home just to install into my device.
There doesn't seem to be a definitive method.

To be honest if the POI consistst of a .ov2 file and a .bmp then the simplest way is to paste them straight into your map folder.
To use TT Home you need to have a cab file that contains the ov2 and bmp files. Additionally to that you need a toc file. This basically informs TT home info about the what the upload is and the location and name of the cab file.
A toc is written in xml and is quite simple to rework an existing toc to meet your needs - but you have to ask yourself if it is really worth the hassle. |

When you download a POI, you will need to unzip it.
This will then show two files, .toc and .cab.
Copy and paste both files into your ‘Download’ folder.
Connect your Device to the PC.
When Home presents itself, you should see the named POI in the centre section.
Tick the box and click on ‘Install’
The POI will then be installed to your device.
(Do NOT try and put the downloaded POI into the ‘download ‘ folder, it won’t work!)
