|
|
Hi all,
I've just bought a nice little Packard Bell Compasseo 500, partly based on the sticker on the front of the box which says "Speed Camera Locations Included - www.PocketGPSWorld.com for updates".
Well, I'm b*ggered if I can find any speed camera information pre-loaded onto the device, so I signed up to this website on the assumption that there would be some simple files to download and instructions on how to install on the unit.
Can anyone help me? What databases do I have to download for this kind of device, and is there any idiots guide to help me install?
Any help would be appreciated - Many thanks.

The database you need will depend upon the software that the Packard Bell uses. I suggest you contact seller or manufactere to find just how they intend to fulfill their side of the ad - i.e. how you get the cameras on your unit. At the very least get them to tell you the software and then somebody from here may be able to help with the "how" and "what" _________________ Peter

Welcome, Stu... sorry you're off to a bad start.
Quite a few manufacturers and shops "add value" to their sales by bundling the database from here with their satnav units. As the database is not free, you usually just get one month's data installed and then a link to subscribe for further updates.
I must admit that this site can be a bit daunting when you first start looking around (especially before you subscribe, because the actual download pages are hidden until you do!).
As Peter says, the first thing we need to know is what software (such as "TomTom Navigator 5" or whatever) your unit is using. Then you can take a look at the "Help" links to the left of this page. In there, you should find some general beginners' guides for subscribing and for the camera database itself, as well as specifics for each satnav model and software type.
Come back for any more help. |

Come back for any more help. | From the info on www.yournav.com it appears to run Destinator. Hopefully this will help? _________________ Jock

Got my GPS 500 today with a link to this site but still cannot upload the files. The GPS runs on Destinator 5. I've tried following instructions from the help menu, but they seem too complicated as I keep being ushered from one place to the next. Is there any comprehensive idiot's guide around here sseing that admit to being one |
