I've been having some greif recently with my TomTom's and it's only got worse since I got started on the x10 range. Instead of explaining it all. Below is an Email I've just sent to TomTom:

As requested please pass the following request on to the relevent body:

Please could I have a authorization code for a free map upgrade on my 910 when they become available as a good will gesture.

I believe this Request has to be actioned by a higher support technician.

I beleive this should be made available due to the constant failures of had when trying to buy my new tomtom 910. If you look on your records of had a 510 with corrupt operation system. A 910 with no connection avialable to the computer even after support the machine had to be returned. A second 910 with currupt hard disk the device would just show a red cross in the bottom right hand corner when switched on and would not connect to any computer. And a Third with loose speaker that would vibrate when the volume was above 80%. Even after this I have another 910 which shows that I have gave custom to you even though there are other competitors out there Namely Garmin.

As you see someone out there don't want me to have a TomTom.

Of to PC World Know to get the Third 910 as mentioned above.

glutton & punishment spring to mind.

Why bother with the x10 range anyway?

The following was the response that TomTom gave regarding my request:

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.

I've put in a request for the map update for your specific TomTom Model, and the request was declined.
Because the TomTom Model you have is already equipped with the latest maps available.
And the same series of mapset is planned to be used for the upcoming update program.

We currently can not offer you a map update because your supplied mapset is up to date for the coming year.

Kind regards,

TomTom Customer Support Team

So, the 910 was announced in March at CeBit and became available a month (?) later. And TT are saying that the "updates" for the rest of us will be the same - i.e. the age "new" maps would have been on the day they first promised upgrades in "Quarter 2" of 2006. Correction. If this is true, they will be the age they were when the x10 series models' contents were put together - even earlier.

Of course, YOU will get a noticeably updated map, seeing as your present one goes back to when Dick was a lad (or did they just change the version number to issue with mine?)
