I do not fully comprehend in what you quote.
So what is the hard ware difference between a 510 & 520?
As the only thing that I see different is the night time illumination.

If you look at PGPSW reviews of both the 510 & 520 it says "The rest of the hardware, including processor and GPS receiver, is the same."

So, I don't think your interpretation of Tim's comment is correct- no doubt he will clarify. I think he means, it does not matter what software improvements you make, you are always reliant on the underlying hardware (PXA255 processor, 300MHZ 32Mb RAM) Wink

Does anyone know where one can get Eastern European maps for the Navman Question . I've been trying for some time and it would greatly ease my work.

Unfortunately, as of yet, there are none available.

What about these , Tim?

Those are part of a package which puts TomTom onto your Navman and in that even TomTom have never officially released the maps of most of the Eastern European countries listed, I suggest that these will be pirated. The price is a giveaway.

I don't pretend to fully comprehend how it works but as with Pocket PCs, etc, each device has its own embedded identity code. Perhaps the code decides what is and isn't allowable from a Navman point of view.

He is offering maps and a software package to run on a Windows CE device, and a way to load it onto your iCN510/520.
What he is not claiming is Routing and Guidence. So he is offering a way to turn your Navman device into an expensive paper map.
He may even be able to show your current location on the maps he displays, but he does not claim to.

Some people may find an expensive electronic 3.8" paper map useful. Personaly thats not for me, I need it to do more, hence I buy my software from reputable manufacturers.

That's what I suspected and I asked him the question by mail. He says that they are truly GPS navigatable maps just like the Navman ones already on the device but I'm convinced you are right. Don't worry, I've no intention of spending £15 to duplicate my paper maps.. Thanks.
