I have a XDA with TomTom software works great, but looking to change down to the SPV E200 phone. I know the hardware works ok (I assume) as the connectors are the same, however will the software run on the phone, if not is there an upgrade, or another solution that will work.
Many Thanks

Not yet............The E200 does at least have a SDIO compatible slot necessary to utilise an SD GPS and BT unlike my original SPV and yes the sync connector is the same as the XDA. However there is no software available and PocketPC software will not run on Smartphones unless ported by the developers.
There are rumours that some are now looking towards the doing this but nothing firm has been seen or previewed yet. I've just posted a news story on GPS for Smartphones which suggests some progress is being made _________________ Darren Griffin

MS Smartphone had been out for a while as yet there is no GPS for it whatsoever.
I wonder if there is any hardware/software problem in developing it. _________________ Pc-Mobile

I think one of the main problems has been the lack of SPP Bluetooth. A big shoot themselves in the foot IMO. It's a shame because I still keep looking at the original Orange SPV and think it's a nice phone, and because it has a Microsoft OS on it, I'd love to have it, but if there's no Bluetooth, then forget it! |
