Have a read through This which details the possible causes - my guess is that your files are named something like pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ogg.ogg (note the double file name) - the link I have made above details how to check this.
Otherwise make sure the ov2 file name is an exact match for the coresponding ov2 file, if not it won't work.
One other cause is multiple map folders, if you have more than one map folder on your device are you sure you have put the ov2 files into the correct folder, and is it selected as the active map within TomTom
I don't understand the hard reset issue though as that wouldn't affect files stored on the memory card, this would affect the data.chk file though - when you mention liz.ogg file how many files did it contain? where from? and did you unzip it? - Mike |

Delete the files that start with a file name of pocketgps_uk (their file extension will be .bmp and .ov2)
Download, unzip and install to your map folder the Speed Zoned file set - It is upto you if you want to use the pMobile files, if not simply delete them before copying to the device - Note there are no ogg audio files for the pMobile cameras in the folder I sent you - If you do install the pMobile cameras then you will still get an alert but you will have to select which "Sound" Bell 1 etc that you want for these cameras, all the others will have spoken alerts.

Once these files are on your device make sure the ogg files are also installed to the map folder and re-configure your warnings - then try a test route to see what it does - Mike |

Hi!
I am sorry, if this has been asked before, I will keep on searching.
I am trying to install the voice files, mentioned in the first post of this thread.
I am using a Tungsten T3
And I am reading carefully this link

I know clearly that I can also choose from the 3 voices!
I have tried to see the excat verion number of my Tom Tom NAVIGATOR 5 series and have looked on the T3 and in the software pack for it.
Any help appreciated!

If your using TTN, why not use the OGG file method? See this thread.

I know I should of looked first, "but I can't"
However, looking briefly at the post, there seems to be quite a few different data.chk files.
Could the problem be being caused with a conflict with the various data.chk files?
Have they been DL at various times to try to get it working, but are now causing the problem?

The data04/05 are the English UK Navigation Voices. The data55 is a Custom Navigation Voice.
Only the data.chk is the Warning Voice File, and is the File that has to be changed.

I don't know if your Display is the same as other TTs, but Tap the screen where the Signal Graphic is, at the bottom of the screen, and a small panel is shown with the Software Version in it.

tapping the lower part of the screen just takes me into the settings menu ! I have explore that menu and can't find the version !

I will give the OGG method a try ! I have backups of my SD card on my PC so quite safe!

Update !
I tried the OGG method and carefully made sure the ogg files has the same name as the ov2 file but unfortunately, when I tested it out on the road, no sound at all for the speed cameras.
So I guess mikealder was right ! I will do some more tests !

My Tungsten T3 does work with this method! So Mike was spot on!
I have alarms set for Post Offices ! And now I get a mobile speed camera alert so I will change that later !
I am wondering whether to upgrade to a better system so off to find a thread about that! A 'which one is best in March 2007' kind of thread...

Either go for a dedicated device that just does the navigation (TomTom One V3 is a good bet at the price), or if you want consider a pocket PC based device (more software options than with Palm).
The most cost effective method is a PPC Mobile phone, the O2 Orbit or T-Mobile C-III are both great devices, cost from nothing depending on contract and have a SiRF-III GPS receiver built in.
I thought the Palm didn't support the ogg file method, but to add further complications I think it does work on Palm when using version 6 software! - Mike |

I am wondering about a dedicated device such as TomTom 910 but don't need the Canadian and American maps!
Also wonder about the Navman N60i but, used a Navman about 18 months ago, and some of the major road changes around the city near to where I live, where not on the mapping !
I have a Sony Ericsson W950i but I think putting TomTom on that would be good, but the display would be too small for me !
I also saw a Microsoft product for GPS for notebooks but, I can't see that it practical to use in a car on my small VAIO !
Time for me to think!
