I have a MDA Vario with navigator 5.2 (?) just wondering if there are any .ogg files available for download which give you specific warning for each speed zone?

Try some of the voices at TomTomSatNav.

Cheers I had a look there, the warnings are good but think I might try and get some with a warning tone then the voice as not sure I'd hear just the voice with the top down.

'readroo' - you have posted the same question in at least three different places. Makes it really difficult for people to make coherent replies that don't overlap each other!

The Liz set I posted earlier have the volume increased and a siren preceding. If you don't want the siren PM me your email and I will strip it out

Hi Mullet

The set of files you posted for the warnings with sirens show as no longer available when you click the link. Any chance you could repost ??

cheers

What is needed, (and I suggested this to TomTom ages ago, but got no reply as usual) is:

either THREE set-up options (complicated), or a simple change to:
1. Warn at all times
2. Warn only when on route UNLESS no route is set (in which case warn anyway).

How do you set Nav 6 to have no route without constant warnings from (I assume) the last set route. Like 'turnaround' etc. I thought I must be missing something as on known journeys, it would be good to have the map on without directions or bother of setting.

That's easy (until TomTom 'improved' things!)...

What you need is the "Clear route" button, which on old software was on one of the main menu pages.
However, in v6, TomTom in their infinite wisdom, created a "hide lesser-used menu options" trick, and stupidly decided that "Clear route" was one of those. So as the book says...
Quote:
Hidden buttons and features
When you first start using your TomTom GO, not all the buttons will be
shown in the menu.
Many buttons and some more advanced features are hidden because you
will not need these features very often.
To show all buttons and features, tap Show ALL menu options in the
Preferences menu.
To hide these buttons again, tap Show fewer menu options in the
Preferences menu.

You can either leave it set to show all menu items, or it is possible to re-arrange the menus to your own liking.
If you want to do that, search this forum for "custom menu" for details on how it's done.

Enjoy Smile

If it's annoying you that much you could always manually 'delete' that specific camera.

Ok, thanks

I have a curiousity question - Why would you choose anything other than "only warn if on route"? Why would you want to be warned of something not on your route?

the main reason i set this isso that I ca stillget Speed camera alerts even when I am not actualy using the tom-tom to navigate (for example a regular journey) because I have a tendancy to forget about the cmeras!

I think it has something to do with POI's proximity to the calculated 'path' of the route. If it doesn't intersect directly with this, the POI's are 'invisible' & alerts don't occur.

Tick the box & a POI must be directly on the route ( most are slightly off to one side, not just the Speed Cameras, but all POI's do this ). Positioning co-ordinates may only be out by a few 'seconds' and it will not warn as you approach.

Recommendation is to not tick this box so unit will 'see' all POI's as you drive 'near' them, not 'over' them !!

Hope that answers.

hirve

Thanks Andy, was annoying setting small or regular journeys up just to get camera reminders.
