I think he means put 2 warnings on the sound file but with a 30 second gap. I would have thought that would make the file too big for TomTom to handle

Cheers Korndog, thats exactly what i meant. Not good at explaining things sorry guys and gals. As for the file being to big my tomtom 910 has no problems at all with them. I can upload the full set I use if anyone wants them, just PM me or answer to this post.

Kind Regards

What happens if there is a directional instruction while this lengthy file is running? Surely one will conflict with / cancel with the other.

I only have the RedLight warning using the ogg file format on my 910 (all the rest use TTS), what the device does, and this applys to BOTH ogg and TTS. If it is playing a POI Warning and needs to issue a navigation prompt the navigation voice takes preference. Mike

I'm sure I should know the answer to this, but where can I get a copy of the original TomTom data.chk file (with all the bells, whistles, etc) that will work with my version 6 software on my 10 series Go, as I intend to try to use this new method of Speed Cam warning voices?

The original data.chk file I have saved to my HDD will not work with my unit, as I have updated the TomTom software several times in the interim (via TomTom Home) since using the PocketGPS POI warnings data.chk file.

If you re-install the latest TomTom software via home this should recreate/ load the unmodified data.chk file - Mike

Just go to www.tomtomsatnav.info/realvoice.html and download the .ogg files (they are at the bottom of the page). You will need to re-name each file to corespond to the POI file names (they must match exactly) - once this is done place the ogg files into your map folder and re-configure your warnings - (I use the Liz voice at 22050Hz for the PDA/ PNA device) - Mike

I've also got a pocketgps_uk_mobile_var from the latest camera download, which does not seem to be in your list and does not seem to have an.ogg file in the zip file I have obtained.

Any reason for this?

Successfully updated my 510 with TomTom Home and obtained an original data.chk file, just as you suggested, so many thanks for that.

There is a reason that the mobile var file is in your folder, Mike B mentioned something about this being an error that the database throws out, I would delete it if I were you - Mike

Are you 100% sure that both the .ogg files are named correctly AND you have re-configured the warnings for ALL the cameras you have installed?

View the ogg files in Windows Explorer and make sure non have a double file type extension i.e. they should end .ogg NOT .ogg.ogg (a few people have had this problem so far), - to view the file extensions in Windows Explorer go to Tools/ Options, select the view tab then make sure the check box for "Hide extensions for known file types" is NOT checked.

The only other thought is you could have more than one set of camera POI's installed to the device, assuming you have the Speed Zoned set installed there should only be 24 .ov2 files that start with the pocketgps name, if there are more than this the POI warner could be picking up the extra files and not the ones you think you have configured - Mike

Mike many thanks for helpful suggestions.
I have checked all your advised changes.

I have now Deselected ALL Poi prompts, shut down and re-selected all catagories once again with .ogg's in place and old data.chk.
Seems to be working.
Deselection was the key.

Im using Navigator 5 using a T mobile MDA Vario.

Followed all you helpful information and comments and have got it all to work fine. At first I was having a problem, I typed in gasto instead of gatso Embarassed

Anyway, because I used to use checkpoint and I am used to the seconds setting before the camera. I am finding it a bit hard to judge the correct distance in yards that I should use on the tom tom system.

Has anyone got tried and tested distance settings for the entire database please?

Thanks

I am sorry if this off topic, but I have set the 30 gatso at 300yds and then i decided to change it to 250yds. I did a route demo in between these changes and then when I went to change it to 250 I noticed that the 300yds I had sent had on it's own changed to 299yds.

Should this happen, how do I stop it from happening?

If I can't stop this everytime I go past a camera the distance will reduce and I will have to re-set all the distanced every month.

help please................. Question
