No POI warning sounds when no route selected

I have Tomtom One with speed cameras loaded. Works fine when I select a destination. Sometimes I just want the unit on showing map and location without route ie as a warning for speed cameras. The speed camera icons show on the map but no warning sound when approaching. Is there any way of having a sound produced as there is when I have selected a route? Thank you

Thanks. I've tried that but still no sound only icons show. Any other ideas please.

Is it the one supplied with the device from TomTom, or have you obtained the database from this site? - Mike

The database I'm using is the one obtained from this site. The reason for the enquiry is that I've just bought a new car with satnav but it doesn't have the ability to load speed cameras so I thought I would use the tomtom just for audible warnings if that is possible. Cheers

For a start you can download a silent voice from HERE this will prevent the navigation voices from sounding.
Next, if you want proper spoken alerts (rather than the bells, bongs and beeps) have a look at installing spoken alerts from HERE
When you configure the POI warnings (change preferences/ manage POI/warn when near POI) you need to make sure the warn only if POI on route is UN Checked as LP mentioned earlier, you will need to uncheck this for each of the camera POI's you have installed to the devce - Mike

hi there i have the same problem

i have downloaded the 540_new.data.chk file for mokia nokia n70

but i can not find

'Warn only if POI is on route'

i can find like a folder and they have little speaker by them
