The release notes for 6.52 make no reference whatsoever to any changes relating to the TMC receiver.

It is behaving differently, though. It only seems to look at the higher end of the frequency range, i.e., above 100MHz, which suggests that some thought has been given to the plight of UK users. It also seems to happily retune if you switch from UK to Any Country and back again which it definitely didn't do before.

So lets assume there's an undocumented tweek or two in there which may help some people. Mine, however, was sitting on my office windowsill happily locked to BBC Berkshire until....

Was it the K-glass in my windows causing me the pain all along? Could it be that the Honda Accord does in fact have heat reflecting glass which doesn't interfere with the GPS signal from billions of miles away but challenges FM radio waves just a bit too much?

I'll update tomorrow, just in case anyone's interested....

I give in and will be returning the receiver while I still can.

I think I'm right in saying that so far all the TT TMC receivers which are in use in this country have been bought from an online supplier or suppliers and as yet TT haven't yet officially released it for the UK.

As Garmin have found with their TMC receivers the strength of transmission signal in the UK can be less than on the continent so could it be the case that Tom Tom might be able to 'tweak' the receiver especially for the UK before it goes on sale ?

It is still ******* useless as I said before it would be better to allow the user to tune it manually rather than have it in permanent seek mode

Whether the UK specific TomTom TMC receiver is or isn't exactly the same as that currently being sold by some online retailers I fail to see how Tom Tom can be held responsible for the performance of something they haven't officially released or sanctioned for use in this country?

So, does this mean that all those who have bought something that hasn't
been officially released in the UK and are now complaining it doesn't work properly don't really have a much of a case with TomTom ?

The only people they should be aiming their wrath at are the retailers, assuming they have advertised the TT TMC receiver as being suitable for use in this country.
