Tomtom BT GPS power connection

Hi,

I'm considering to buy the Tomtom BT GPS but the time you can use the unit without recharging it wories me a little for my hicking trips. To solve this I want to connect an external battery to the unit. Can someone tell me if you can charge the unit without the use of the craddle because I can't see that on one of the pictures I've seen until now.

I have also considered the new Rikaline BT GPS (X7) but the latence issues I hear about, worry me even more.

Yes! There is a sccket on the back of the receiver which enables you to charge it out of the cradle.

The cradle not only has a similar socket for charging, which can be connected to the cigar lighter, but also a socket which can have a connection directly into the car's electrics so that when the ignition is on it is being charged. It also switches itself on when the ignition goes on and off when it goes off.

And it comes with the cable and fuse ready to be wired into your car, but they recommend that this is done by a professional auto electrical installer.
