I have a Holux270 and am looking for software with Australian maps. Seeing as I am in Australia my software choices are rather limited. I came across Garmin's mapsource and was wondering if it will work with my CF GPS as I've heard that Garmin software only functions with Garmin GPS units. Is this true?

What software? Map software?
Garmin maps work only in Garmin GPS, and Garmin GPS work only with Garmin maps.

I suppose you can use Mapsource on a PC with your CF GPS, if that was what you were wondering. I have not tried it though but I think it should work.

If you are looking for a Street Nav application then CoPilot will work well out in Australia. If you're looking for more topographic maps then OziExplorer and scanned topo maps will equally work as good.
