Hi Rick,

The 2610 is one of the older GPS units which unfortunately cannot Garmin handle Points of Interest (POIs). POIs are what all the new devices use (i.e. anything released in about the last 2 years). The advantage of POIs is that you can get an audible warning when you are within a certain proximity of one of them. Ideal for cameras.

All is not lost however. I use a 2610 myself, and I use a version of the database which is just an overlay map. It places the cameras "on top" of your normal 2610 maps as big coloured dots. It won't warn you as you approach them, but as a visual aid its better than nothing. There's an explanation on how to install the overlay on a 2610 in this thread. If you want to look at some screenshots first to see if it could work for you, have a look at my website, which is here

This BMW sat nav is very very good - have had Tom tom go and 710 and even a blue media and its far superior!

Can you advise again please = I have a 512 compact flash in the unit - what would a larer card give me? Is it purly storage of maps or speed?

Thanks Rick Kelly.

512 Mb? That's more than enough. I use a 256Mb and I can get the City Navigator maps for the entire UK, some parts of France, and the UK and Europe speed camera maps into it with space to spare. One word of warning if you do decide to go for anything larger (to fit all of Europe in I assume). With the speed camera overlay map, everytime you upgrade it, which will be about every month on average, you need to download not just the camera map, but all the CN maps as well to your GPS. This takes quite a while.

A larger card would give you more capacity, but its a trade off against having to send all the maps again.
