has anyone noticed the gatso near blackprince london bound? nice of the police to hide it behind that very bushy tree, legally they are supposed to be visable but that tree has been hiding a secret from atleast may. Everyday i have seen some poor sucker contribute to the policemans ball. |
The only one I have seen there is the one with no "head" on it, that was taken away a coulpe of months age, if there is a new one there, I'm sure the old brown envelope would have dropped through my letter box by now, but it has'nt (fingers crossed) _________________ Rover Sterling

If you think all the speed cams are bad try counting the new cctv cameras that have been installed along the same route, none of which are for traffic use as these are already present on the bridges, looks like big brother is out to spy on anyone driving through kent.
time to move country i think, France is looking better every day, shame i would have to live with the french, but that may not be a bad thing considering all the crap we have to put up with in the uk!! |

Do I think we need cameras - Yes
Do I think we need so many - No
It's all about where they are placed and what for. Speed cameras are an effective way of slowing traffic in key areas. Other areas should have considered different speed reducing techniques first (and I know that they claim to have put the scammeras in as a last resort).
As for the CCTV everywhere, this is one thing you are not going to get away from. With terrorism, unfortunately people need to be watched. I would be very surprised (and somewhat concerned) if France's cities do not have CCTV (both for traffic & people)

I agree but place them outside of schools and hospitals and where there are real accident blackspots NOT on clear straight runs that are easy targets for revenue. |

I have just downloaded the sept 15th database and these specs cameras submitted by at least 2 people that i'm aware of and been written about over the past 10 days are still missing from the database.
How much confirmation is required before they are entered on the database so that everybody gets the benefit???

Usually one confirmation. The problem is that many cameras and their subsequent verifications are not submitted correctly.
I'll pass this information to MikeB to investigate.
From our FAQ's:
"For general information it is worth noting that we get dozens of incorrect entries (middle of fields, North Sea etc.). These are not malicious, just genuine mistakes with submitters entering the wrong data. So whilst someone is absolutely certain that they've submitted a camera position, it isn't necessarily so that we have included their data.
We also sometimes, though rarely, have to wait longer than we would hope for some cameras to be verified. Overall, we're pleased to report that month on month the quality and volume is increasing, but, by the very nature of the beast, inevitably the odd camera might take a bit of time putting in an appearance." _________________ Robert Brady |

Rob
Surely this cannot be an argument in this case.
I submitted the cams directly from an ov2 file and all of them are in the right place as I drive the route 4 days a week.
jjmccall also submitted them( I can only assume correctly) possibly before me in which case my submission should be confirmation.
Tim Buxton(a mod) has also confirmed that they are there.
How much confirmation do you need??? |
