Was driving around East London (Not that many tall buildings) and my i3 messed up a few times, it told me I was in St Katherines Way when I was in The Highway, similar results on two other journeys.

I then went to the west end and had similar results, is this usual in the centre of London? In Croydon it works fine for me (although my postcode does takes me to a block of flats at the other end of my road!)

Any central London i3 users out there who can tell me how it performs for them.

Should add it is not my windscreen, I have used other sat/navs in the same car on the same routes with no problems.

Thanks

I have just checked mine and it is Software Version: 3.10 - Audio Version: 2.50

Surely using old firmware will bring other problems? Mine has the internal memory, will using old firmware cause any problems.

Thanks

alot of people have downgraded to v2.70 for the simple reason that it gets hold of the sats quicker...if you look on the garmin download site it states what the version differences are, then you can decide if you want v2.70 or v3.10....

Thanks for the reply.

Will look into downgrading the firmware.

When you mention V2.70 gets hold of sats quicker, mine gets a sat lock (All bars lit up) within a minute at home in south London, and works perfectly in outer London, problems only happen in or around central London.

Thanks

I would also recommend rolling back to 2.7, most people will tell you this is the best version, I tried 3.1 and found it useless. Also moving the i3 to the corner of the screen instead of the middle seems to make a big difference.

north country boy is correct...because of the high buildings on your left ,it makes sense to move the gps furthest away from them ie the right hand corner..the only problem with that is if you have your window open someone might reach in and grab the i3...takes your chances i suppose...

I will try that out as well as downgrading the firmware, although the problem I had has happened when very few tall buildings were nearby. It also works perfectly in and around Croydon which is known as Little Dallas due to it's tall buildings.

It is, and I am very impressed with it excluding the hiccups in central London.

I haven't actually used my i3 in London but they do seem suseptable to 'canyon syndrome' as I've lost sat lock on roads with lot of trees and that's on the bike without the windscreen to contend with.

Although they are a god little device to be hoest I've just ordered a TomTom One to replace mine as I prefer the interface and the routing.

Could you please let us know how you get on and whether the replacement was a good idea. Thanks.
