Whenever I disconnect from ToTom Home my 710 freezes with the initial picture. I then have to wait until the battery runs out so that I can reset the device.
I disconnect from the computer by going to 'FILE' and pressing disconnect. The cross on the tomtom screen goes, but then it freezes.
Help please. Is this a fault on my machine or with the software?
Many thanks RoystonB |

I had the exact problem.
The solution for me was easy: When my 910 is connected to TomTom home, and I want to disconnect, I just manually turn the unit off first. With the power button on the unit.
I haven't had a freeze-up since.
BTW, I know I have a 910 and you wrote about the 710, but don't you have a reset button? If so that should clear up a freeze...

I purchased my 710 last week and was a bit shocked when I went through all the procedures for backing up and updating that the unit froze. OK the reset button re-set it. I think in the future I will use GPS-Dude's method of switching the unit off first rather than rely on the remove hardware option in Windows.
