I'm sure it's a no brainer but what's to stop you copying a map from your TT910 to another TT which only has UK on it?

Well its obviously not a TT910 he wants to copy it onto is it!

Wynny - doing what you suggest MAY work, although TomTom have a system of locking the maps to a particular unit. The Go has a device code, the map has a product code. You have to enter both of these into a form at www.ttcode.com to generate an Activation code that you type into the Go to switch the maps on.

The exact way in which this works, and when and if you need to go through the process, is very confusing/complex. Suffice to say if you do manage it, you might well have "taken" ownership of the map away from the original device, which means the next time any software update etc is attempted it will lock you out, and also cheap map "upgrades for existing owners" would not be available.

Finally, it's illegal, and is explicitly forbidden in the Licence Agreement you agreed to when you tore open the sticker on the card/device when you first bought it.

I would say it's a waist of time. The maps will only work with the original device because they will be locked to that device code. TomTom are not silly, if it were that easy then there would be map files all over ebay and there aren't.

there there, i guess you've just returned to work too.. ;) i realise didn't read carefully enough, i apologize to you wynny for that a little bit too easy reply. but as other replies indicate, it's not all that easy, it would have to be in tomtom's best interest to protect their goods why simply copying from one device to another would be just a tad too easy and basically encourage people to break the law.

so i'd say that you'd have to go on to buy the new maps should you still want/need them.
