|
|
Hi all,
At present I am using the exiting "Thomas" uk voice on my 510, but every time I go out of the mio map to the home screen and then back again the voice has changed to the US one. Does this happen all the time?
As it stands at the moment , if I have been on the home screen at all, do I have to check the voice every time.
Also while we are on the voices bit , if I wanted to change the voice to the female uk one, can I do this with the usb connection / cable or do I have to use one of those bluetooth dongles! things you are all going on about. ( dont think I have bluetooth on my pc anyway )
Thanks....DIL _________________ ***************************************

You'll need bluetooth to transfer the voice file to the Mio. |

Hi Dilcymro.
Me again.
The language problem you describe is a software bug but there is a workaround.
In Miomap, if you go to Settings, Language and change the program language (not the voice) to a foreign language, it will tell you that the program will restart. Click Yes.
When it restarts (in your foreign language, I used German) do the same again but select your British language, it tells you again that the program will restart (in German this time), this time click on Ja.
Your problem will now go away. :D
With regards to your female UK voice.
Unfortunately you do need one of those dongle thingy's you talk about.
The Bluetooth dongle thingy acts like an aerial to communicate with your Mio. Just plug it into one of your USB ports and away you go. You might have to install drivers that come with it but that's no great shakes.
You will need v1.2 or above but trust me v1.2 is sloooooow.
When you get your UK female voice it will be in a zipped folder. Do not unzip it. Just copy and paste it to miomap/Miomap/voice on your device and Phillipa will be installed for your further listening pleasure.
I believe Maplins sell the BT dongle for £9.99. Well worth it cos the female voice is a lot better than the UK male one.
Hope this helps Dil.

Hi again ceejay, was going to send you a pm but thought I would ask on here just in case someone else is interested.
Just had a look on the maplins site and there are two b/ tooth dongly bits for a tenner and one for around thirty quid, would one of the ten quid ones do? obviously you will have to walk me through it Duh!!
Cheers....Dil _________________ ***************************************

Whats the part numbers Dil?? I had NO luck at all with my el-cheapo Belkin V1.2 that cost me £10.99 on clearance a couple of months ago from staples. Even Belkin Tech support thought it was faulty. Removed drivers, stuck Bluesoleil on and it worked immediately.
So happy i registered the software :D

Hi to all
To Dil.
One of the ten quid one's should do. Just make sure it's v1.2 or above, that's what I'm using.
The one I got had Bluesoleil software with it on a mini disc, as toibs has just stated, it worked straight out of the box.
Need any further help just holler, either on here or via PM.
Glad to be of assistance.
May sound a bit daunting at the mo, but once you've done it you'll find it's a piece of cake.
Honest.
CeeJay. |

Hey Dil.
Missed your Maplins link.
I'm using the second one down the list. Part No. A40FH.
Bluesoleil is the name of the software that comes with it.
Mystery solved. :D
