Sounds exactly the same as my 660 receiver which for the most part has worked without a hitch - part no. 10R-023487 |

Got a Nuvi 310D for Xmas (wife bought it from Halfrauds in early Nov 06). Only had the traffic work once and then stop. Read all the posts - very helpful - I thank you all. I spoke to Garmin (Europe) today, who answered after 3 minutes of waiting (V Good), and thanks to your posts and the knowlege I acquired I got them to send a new charger immediately.
Tonight I got impatient...
I tried extending the aerial (stripped the tip off of it and added the same length of cable again by soldering it on the tip) - nothing
I loaded all the latest drivers - nothing
I tried charging the battery fully - nothing
I tried the USB cigar cable from a Qtech XDA - nothing
I then tried a "restore defaults" - hey presto, 3 pages of traffic!!!
The trouble is I don't know whether it was the XDA charger or the "restore" that did it. It works a treat now - I can't wait to go to work now - how sad is that??!! |

Having so far read all 43 pages of this thread, I thought I'd found the answer to my problems. Unfortunately not.
My TMC12 on Nuvi 310 work perfectly out of the box, but since Xmas it pickup less and less and now only displays the "no traffic info" message. With a 6025 lead and fully charged battery, the hidden menu on the way to work (35 min trip) showed 319 messages received on a signal strength of approx 5-7, but not one of them was displayed.
Any ideas?? |

Thanks, tried that. Phoned Garmin. Quite obvious I knew more about it than the "technical help" person. Have got to send it to them for testing |

One of the problems you will now face is that the TMC signal is quite strong near to Garmin Europe, so it may well work for them.
Whereabouts in the country are you (in case others can confirm whether or not there is an outage in that area at the moment)? |

I'm in High Wycombe, but as the GTM hidden menu shows a signal strength and a high number of messages received I'm assuming somethings wrong with the unit. Unless of course i'm mistaken. Garmin "tech support" didn't even know there was a hidden menu! |

Decided today to get a GTM12 for my nuvi 310 and then looked at the sheer size of this thread and concluded it would be a waste of money.
Does anyone disgree? |

Yes, I disagree - if you have the right car charger, it's quite a cheap way of getting traffic informaion. If you read the thread, and understand the limitations of the UK TMC service then you will be happy with the service (I bought the GTM12 knowing full well there were problems).
However, if you only need it for one car, and can handle a permanent installation, then I would recommend the GTM10 over the GTM12. |

In my Merc mine would not work with the wire or stub aerial supplied, the car has heat reflective glass that may cause the problem.
Connection to the external Aerial solved the problems.
Search around the thread. |
ive also heard simalar problems and relates also to heated windscreens mecanisms inside many thanx tony |

After the problem with my TMC12, I sent the whole system back to Garmin as requested.
Three days later I have received a brand new 310 and TMC12 with mount, DVD and leads. All works fine now :D |

having had the same problem getting my tmc 12 working in the car with my nuvi 310 and reading the problem and solution to it, i decided to buy a new charger from ebay. for the princely sum of £2.99 i got one and it has solved the problem for me, even in my 02 mondeo with heated front screen. |
