Which to buy Fugawi or Memory Map

Hi all - a request?

On Fugawi compare the elevation data at
57' 46' 2.11''N

4' 21' 24.88'' E

with the given elevation on the map.

What do you notice?

I don't have MM but if any1 has can they do a comparison?

Fugawi on PPC does not display OSGB grid references?

The coordinate you quote ( correcting E for W on longitude) take you to Beinn Tarsuinn at 2158 ft as shown on the map. Fugawi elevation says 1893ft but I am not surprised by the error.

Don't know if MM is better in this respect.

Munro baggers may be disappointed to learn that the paper map elavation of 961 metres has been redifined as 774 metres in Magellan OSGB

Fugawi on the PDA only displays in UTM (WGS84) and Lat/Long.

Our Memory-Map software is not restricted lat/lon UTM on a PPC, there are other options available.

I wish I could chack accuracy of elevation data though

I am waiting for a response from OS - maybe they have a view of a particular partnership and a brief to deliver

Since this thread was started there is another product that has entered the market with OS data. Anquet Maps launched their Pocket PC based app early March.

I have received a review copy, but havent been able to take a look at it yet.

Mike - you have turned up trumps again.

I dowloaded sample of Memory Map and new Anquet

While it may be a question of preference with 3D Walk Path a real winner Anquet seems to have a lot of downloadable routes/treks/paths/hikes.

I have ordered Anquet Northern Britain edition

Perhaps I should add that I bought Anquet OSGB map and gave it installed on the laptop and PPC.

It is a wonderful piece of kit that will compliment any hiking/trekking group
