If i do Quit the application what's the advantage of having it remove the start up regsitry entry? It means if i need to kill the app at any time then i loose the auto start function. What if i want to kill the app but have it auto start next time? |
Don't forget that machines are often hibernated, or left in standby - so it's not quite as simple as having it switched on or off.
Camera Manager is designed to stay loaded until you specifically tell it otherwise (by clicking on the Quit button). If you really want to override the default behaviour, you can always put the application (or a shortcut to it) in your Startup directory.
Can I ask what advantage you think there is to not having CM loaded all the time? |

My PC's on 24/7. If the application just checked on start-up it would virtually never check!
I don't see what the problem is with having such a small app running all the time. _________________ Anita

The database is only released once a month, so for 29 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and 30 seconds of the month it's doing nothing! Not much of an advantage. Also i don't like un-necessary apps running in the background.
I haven't got a problem with the app itself but the way there is no flexibility in it's deployment. Many people who run it probably don't know or care that it's running all the time. But some do and I'm sure I'm not the only one. |

OK then ...i don't like MORE un-necessary apps running in the background than XP already provides.
If it's going to be like that i'll learn to live with it. Cheers. |

The links are fine - you're just using the wrong one!
Try http://tinyurl.com/nvlm4 ;) |

Why then do you still have the wrong one in your signature?
It was that link I was using. |

I don't - that's for a completely different application (Camera Updater)!
I am allowed to write more than one, you know... |

It should do, but I can't say for sure as I don't have a Nuvi
Try it for yourself, and don't forget to post your findings here! 8) |

Hi Ash
Had Camera Manager all working fine until yesterday, when it crashed and shut down for no apparent reason.
Tried re-starting and it said "Beta Version Expired"
Just downloaded it again from your website and all is working fine again (it even kept my old settings etc)
So all is OK again, just thought I'd let you know.
Cheers for excellent software

Hi Ash, been away, hence no feedback.
I've noticed the following:
When app loads, full screen is always shown for a split second. Could it be run minimised to the system tray?
Secondly as I said I have been away (and wih no web access - scary). When starting the PC now it reports a server connection error (I guess to PGPSWorld). Could this error be a balloon instead of being a Dialogue Box?
Apart from that all seems good. Keep up the good work!!! _________________ Garmin i3

Socco, it works fine with a Nuvi 310, so assume a 360 is also fine.
Ash, excellent work. :D |
