I drive on the Western section of the M25 regularly and can confirm the Gatso's trigger whatever speed,

As per my post to Ash10 earlier on this page, the Camera Manager display doesn't quite work properly where the speed is 0 / zero. The Camera Updater does. Ash's reply suggests that he has to make a minor tweak to his program.

Aye - well i was going the other way round the M25....this was the mobile cameras at Clacket Lane not the fixed ones.

Is it perhaps more of a mobile thing that this varying with speed is about?

I've subsequently re-loaded and taken off teh "indicate speed and not symbol" tick box and that seems to have made a difference.

It could just be me though!

Camera Manager v1.5.0.5 beta is now available on pre-release to contributors

Hush mode

This has swapped from the left to the right mouse button - it was all to easy to accidently enable hush mode when trying to open the settings window, and then wondering why there weren't any update reminders.

The reminder message itself has been tweaked to show if hush mode has just been enabled, and the context-sensitive help (hover) message now displays the current state.

For example, a reminder pops up:

Right-click on icon to enter hush mode:

And that's your lot as reminders go - right-click again to cancel hush mode and start getting them again.

New icons

The speed limit icons have also been redesigned to be much clearer, especially on the i3's diminutive screen - here's an example:

New: Old:

Ash

Did you also fix the "1" versus #0 issue being added to the PGPSW camera identifier?

Also is your Camera Updater program still available please - I would appreciate a link to this as I prefer to update manually.

Thanks

Camera Updater is officially deprecated, and no longer supported - I'm afraid that I just don't have the time Crying

I'm going to be cheeky now - what's the going rate for a donation to Ash for the software?

Does anyone know if this program is workable on M/Soft Vista.
I installed it one week ago, have POI's in C:/ and have used the POI loader, downloaded the latest camera files, have had visits to pgpsw as it request's, but the file still sits in the traymanager as "Idle".

Would appreciate some help please.

My experience is that it doesn't. I've tried many times but end up with the same result you describe. Whilst not an expert I feel there is some security blocking function within Vista that precludes Camera Manager accessing the Internet to check for updates. Whilst there is also a feature in Vista for granting programme access I can't find where Camera Manager installs itself so I've made no progress... I've talked with Ash about this but he can't help as he doesn't have Vista access.

Go "Start" "Run" and type "msconfig" and OK.
In the system config box that opens , press the "Startup" tab.
In the "Startup" column find "Camera Manager", along the line go to third column "Command" hover the mouse over and it will tell you where the .exe file ended up.

While you are here, you can get rid of some of the crap in Startup you don't require by removing the "ticks".

I have moved mine to C:/ drive, but it still hasn't made any difference.

When you find the file if you right click, go to properties, "Compatibility" tab, tick run this program in compatibility mode for - Windows XP (Service Pack 2) this will get rid of that annoying balloon on startup that tells you the file isn't compatable with windows (or something like that)

Control Panel (not Classic view)...Security...Allow a Programme Through Windows Firewall. But even with Camera Manager loaded and running, it's not listed... Sad

Hi DPL,

As i know where i have put the cameraManager.exe file, i have now installed it into the Windows Firewall programme and ticked it for access through the firewall.

Guess What?
Nothing!

I have re-loaded POI's through Garmin S/ware, hoping it would pick this up.
If it changes later i will let you know.

I've spoke about this with Ash in the past as I came across the issue the day after I bought my Vista equipped laptop. I'm not an expert but it seems to me that Vista handles a number of things fundamentally different to XP, particularly when it comes to blocking access. I have a number of similar issues with other programmes. Ash has been expecting comment in the forum as other users come on stream with Vista. As Camera Manager is provided for free we can't expect Ash to rush and invest in Vista.

Until you said, I didn't realise that Ash hasn't got Vista, but hopefully with one of us "tweaking" around with the program, we might come up with the answer.

My Windows Vista, does now have Camera Manager listed in "Exceptions Control" and can communicate through the Windows Firewall, but as you say -
Quote:

I didn't realise that it was so different to XP.

I did have Camera Manager working under XP, but my computer failed before i could use it.
Ash certainly made a clever bit of software and to offer it Free is certainly a generous commitment to take on, hopefully at some stage Vista will be added and it would be good if we can help solve it for him - so I will keep trying.

I see that there is another version of Camera Manager V1.5.0.5
Do you know what is different in that?
