Hi there,

I hard wired my GPS in last week, with the receiver under the dash, the cigarette lighter power source hidden behind the dash (I got a second cigarette lighter then connected it all up and electrical tape wrapped it together) and the data end comes through the ash tray to my XDA in a Brodit mount. Hope that makes sense!!

The cable came from Morpeth mobiles, and is a Y type device that charges and passes GPS data.

For some reason now, it says no GPS device in TomTom - It used to work and have changed nothing. It still charges, so is all plugged in, and the GPS device works if I try it in my old Arkon powered mount - so i'm a bit baffled!!

Any suggestions? Sad

When you say the GPS unit works with the Arkon powered mount, how are you connectings it? it is in anyway different to the cable that is employed with the unit in the Brodit holder. Mike

The GPS is a Haicom 204 (if I remember correctly), and it connects to the Arkon with an adaptor that changes the PS/2 lead to an RJ11 for the mount.

The Y cable I got has a PS/2 end on it so it connects directly.

I kept all settings the same and it used to work fine - I guess there must be a problem with the adaptor itself Confused

Ah, well i hope its stable for you now! Maybe its just a moody port on the xda?!

I take it you have gone into the gps set up, and selected othere wired gps and gone through the set up that way (ie selecting the port etc?)

Cheers,

Bryson

Yea its an other wired GPS, 4800 baud rate on Com1.

Seems to work fine, just having problems keeping a good signal now, although I have wired it behind the dash!!

Right, the problem I have now is it keeps losing the maps, it will lose all roads other than the one you are on, and if you restart it will say none are recognised.

I've ordered a new SD card in case the old one is playing up! Confused

Dont know if this is relevant, but when I used to use my road angel as the GPS for my Ipaq running TT N2,3or5, if the power cables that suplied the power/gps signal ran over the top or underneath the road angel, then I would lose signal or get constantly changing map data.

Just a thought!
