I am having a couple of problems with my Quest 2

1) I am travelling to France in a couple of weeks and thought it would be a good idea to transfer the routes I had prepared in mapsource to the Quest so I could run the route simulation program - on all 4 routes transferred the unit runs through about a minute of the route and then asks if I wish to re start the route? If I restart then it starts the whole route again and brings up the same message.

2) I also transferred an old route I had in Mapsource to the Quest 2 however as soon as I tried to open this route it told me the maps did not match "do you want to recalculate the route" - I think originally they were made in Mapsource on V6 but have now updated through to V8 and still looked at the route in Mapsource before transferring.

I had updated the unit Software to the latest revision 12/7/06 and the latest webupdater (June)

Any advice would be appreciated - I am quite dissapointed that since changing to the Quest 2 from my original Quest I seem to have nothing but problems - with slow redraw's, slow calculations etc - the new unit seems unwieldy (software wise) compared to the original.

Cheers

If you created a route using v6 maps then you have to view the route using the newer v8 maps and then ask Mapsource to recalculate it for you then upload it into the Quest.

If the Quest still complains that the maps are different then reload the v8 maps onto the Quest using Mapsource.

Thanks, I'll try that tonight - any idea about the other issue?

I'm guessing that this will also be fixed when you reload the maps.

Hi Skellum
Have just returned from France and my Quest 2 was a bit quirky downloading Maps as well before I went so what I did was download waypoints to Q2 and let the unit calculate the routes (see other posts) this worked fine.

Hi Bob

Thanks for the input - I sorted the main problem out by re-calculating the routes in mapsource V8 as they were originally created in V7 however, I will bear what you said about downloading just the waypoints to the Q2 as I have a Brittany week end coming up and I want to minimise the likelihood of any route problems! It's frustrating as my Q1 worked fine!
