Hi everyone,

Total TT numptie here, so hope this isn't a totally stupid question!

My TT 5.0 on my HP 2210 running PPC 2003 keeps losing the stored items, i.e. my home location, all favourites and my POI settings so I need to reset these every time I start TT up.

Any idea what might be causing this? I'm sure it's "operator error" ( i.e. I've mucked something up somewhere! ) but I'd appreciate any help on what I might do to stop it happening.

Thanks!

Dave, Welcome to the forum - first off check the read/ write access isn't switched to lock on your memory card (the little switch on the side of the card).
If not dock the unit to the PC and find the file current map.cfg (it will be in the GB map folder on the memory card), copy it to the PC, right click the file select properties, then uncheck the readonly attribute.
Copy the file back to its original location and you shoulf be OK - Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for such a quick reply!

OK, SD card not locked. Looking at my SD via my PC, I don't see a cfg file on the SD in the map folder. Should I copy over the map again from PC to SD in case somehting's gone screwy?

Hi Alix,

Thanks - it definitely wasn't there, but I copied it from the original folder on my PC, then brought it back, unchecked read only and sent it back to my SD, so hopefully that'll fix it.

I'll have to pretend to do some work now so won't be able to check it until later!!

I appreciate that this reply may be a bit late, but you also need to make sure that you allow the sat nav program to finish its “write” cycle once you have exited the program.

DO NOT touch anything for at least 3 seconds after or until you see the red X at the top right if you are using the system add-on program icbar

Thanks for that - anything I can do to keep it stable is great, though it's been absolutely first class since I got the map properties sorted!

Hi Alix,

Yup, running 5.210 (5430) now, thanks. Makes a difference,, some street names here in Glasgow are now accurate when before they were out!

Hi Dave,

Which streets? I didn't notice any changes.

Clarkston Road was called Taybridge Drive, which was odd as I live off there! That was the main one, but I'm also aware from ages ago there were other problems. All seem fixed now though.
