ICN 530 T1 traffic module aerial connector

Anyone know what the coax aerial connector is on the T1 traffic module so I can fit an external aerial to improve classic Fm tmc reception?
Better still a part number from cpc or other supplier......phil

I'm trying do do the same, I've found the TMC works really well.... when it has recieved a signal and not sitting scanning all the time.

I have found these on the cpc/farnell web... guess it would depend which cable and fitment type to use.

Hello ICN 530 users
Assembled all the bits and immediately had TMC reception where none existed before... Used maplins antenna with mcx coax connector from RS (MCX 90deg plug (280-9449)
Have also installed 2nd fixed fm antenna (rubber type) but no reception with this in same location.

The rubber aerial will require a ground plane, have you got a direct to metal connection with the attachment device, you will need to clean off the paint etc from the underside to get anything like decent reception from one of these, personally I think they are rubbish and would always go for an aerial that is not only designed for the frequency band but the application in mind i.e. compatable with a car and correctly installed - Mike

Hello mike, I did make sure the metalwork was cleaned up and checked with a meter for good earth conection but as you say the rubber aerial is of suspect quality at £9.99 and so am thinking of making an adaptor up to replace it with the maplins metal antenna. I can see a session on the lathe coming on.
Many thanks for your observations, its a shame the supplied aerial with the T1 TMC unit is not particularly good in the area I live in, unless of course I have a faulty connection in the cable run.
Will be going north tomorrow and giving the maplins aerial a good try out in its magnetic attachment config.
