Orange PAYG works fine in a Motorola V3. However, check the prices. If you can get a package deal it's just expensive. On normal rates it's exorbitant. I used my traffic for 2 hours a day for a month, and racked up 16mb of download. At the time, (about 4 months ago), they were offering 16mb for £4, but it had to be used in 30 days or you lost the balance. Because of my usage, I tried it for a month. I wasn't happy with the performance, finding that it would give both false alerts where the delay had cleared, and also failing to warn of delays. It also only seems to work on major roads.

Even with the special offer, I didn't think that an extra £48 a year phone bill on top of the subscription was worth the service. At full price, ( £1 per mb, with no expiry) I would have been paying nearly £200 in call charges a year, on top of subscription. I stopped using it and went back to listening to radios, and then manually avoiding reported problems. I'm looking at RDS traffic, but haven't taken the plunge yet.

Are you sure on the call costs with orange.

I use traffic with nav 5 - set it to update every 15 minutes - and drive around 4000 miles a month so am in the car a minimum of 4 hours a day. I add a £10 credit once every 6/8 weeks - this is on the normal charges not a special offer. I think it is £4 per mb and the traffic downloads are tiny. Last year I put a total of £60 on the payg phone (just done my tax return!).

I have contract phone with orange but have to use a seperate payg sim and old phone as I use a BT headset with my main mobile.

Hi,

I only used the Orange to and from work(an hour each way, 5 days a week and for one long journey to Newcastle and back, and set to 15min updates). I bought a special Orange data bundle which gave 4MB data for £4, to be used within 30 days. However, when first loaded it and checked on the Orange helpline, it said I had 16MB of downlad available. Before the 30 days were up, I ran out of the 16MB.

Current bundle offers on Orange World are £4 per MB, without expiry, or a monthly bundle of £4 for 4MB, but it expires after 30 days.
