I went to on the M6 Toll on Sunday and it is there. However i was a bit annoyed that the i3 didn't take me along it. I'll be setting up some POIs of the toll booths so next time i can use them as a via point.

You can set the i3 to allow or ignore toll roads within its route calculation.

Mine is set to allow and it forever trying to get me to go on it. Maybe Garmin are getting some royalty from the toll operator !!

I have it set to allow however when travelling from London to Blackpool it avoided it both ways favouring the Congested M6. On the way back we spotted the junction and went down the M6 Toll.

Set a via for

Food, Hotels and More
Fuel

Search for Norton Carnes

This will bring up BP Norton Carnes to use as a via point on the M6 Toll

It is well worth going on the toll road at the moment because of a 40MPH speed limit through the J6 area of the M6 that has SPECS cameras.

As Stella says just ignore your i3 and go down the toll road, it will soon recalculate.

Nick.

It doesn't route on the Toll as it takes 3 minutes more (cos it is longer). Back in the real world....

Just ignore it and use the toll. you cannot miss the signs!

Well i missed them on the way up but not on the way back!!

Oldboy does a collection of POI which includes BP Petrol Stations. He's just added Norton Cannes which is the services on the M6 Toll. http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/oldboy/TomTomPOI/index.html

I've sent MaFt an e-mail to add Norton Cannes Services to his Motorway Services POIs from http://www.MaFt.co.uk/garmin/download.htm

Don't use the toll roads!
You are giving some Blair muppet a chance to tax you more to use other roads.
Are you allmad or what.
The real test as to the worth of a toll road can only be assessed if it is run as a free road and then as a pay road to see the real difference.

Stay away from it and the'll drop the charge. Laughing

the toll road is only quicker if the original m6 at a standstill is not even shorter in distance

And whilst i sit in traffic crawling along the M6 I'm wasting fuel and therefore paying more tax indirectly at the pump. Either way you pay more tax.

To be honest if more motorways were as clear and nice to drive along (i.e. without duelling arctics, 27 different types of road surface every mile and over-banding every 10 metres producing that irritating "dub dub dub" background noise) then I'd gladly pay extra for it.

It's the best £3.50 you will ever spend.

Cantgetlost obviously hasn't spent enough time sitting in traffic between junctions 10A and 8 to appreciate it properly.

Oh yes I have!
Motorists are ripped off enough in this country with out being peddled toll roads on false information.
It's about time motoring organisations and motorists stood togther against Tolls congestion charging and speed cameras.
Buikld the roads and junctions we need for modern day motoring instead of more stealth taxes!

ps. I can pass on road charges to my clients and not pay them myself.
In France you can still make reasonable time not using Tolls on most routes. This is not the case here, motorways are a must and we should not be paying for them.

But this is not really the place to discuss this matter. So I'll leave well alone.
