Hi

How many people out there are having trouble with the Traffic Data received by Garmin GTM series (11 and 12).

Last Thursday I lost the signal to my GTM 12 and up to now have not got it back. I do not seem to be able to find anyone who accepts 'resposibility' for providing the important siganl.

Trafficmaster (who are a member of the RTT Consortium) have been most unhelpful and the RAC haven't been much better.

Helpppp Somebody

First of all, I think it should be back by now.

TM produce the data and then have agreements with 2 groups of radio companies to distribute the data. Once it "leaves" TM for broadcat, I'm not sure who is "responsible" for it. However, I'm surprised TM were not helpful at all.

I bought a nuvi 310 deluxe from Halfords on Friday and was successfully collecting traffic Fri, Sat and Sunday and was, in fact, re-routed twice on Sunday due to traffic. Superb device.

Cold comfort I know, but to be fair you (we) are Garmin's customer not Trafficmaster, I suspect they are simply not set up to deal with end-user trouble-shooting.

Hope it comes back for you soon.

Cheers

Traffic is Back up, I understand the remark about whose customer we are. But after trying Garmin numerous times (always overloaded). All I wanted was someone to sya that they service is up or down. Really RAC (it is called RAC Live) should have a status item somewhere.

Lets hope it doesn't go down too regularly.

Cheers

Given there are 2 radio networks involved, I wonder if only 1 failed, and the other was fine...

Indeed, and I doubt their Customer Services have access to any greater information about the Trafficmaster service than we do...

After advice given re my "kin useless bit of kit" thread aerial splitter fitted directly to the GTM 11 has brought great results .
I've just come back from Europe and In France I found the GTM 11 worked better than here, or so it seemed.
Even VERY minor road works on routes came up on th unit, and the unit seemed to keep the signal better than in the UK.
Here in the UK I notice Cell phone Aerials alongside motorways and all over the place, I rarely spot them in miles of French countryside and get full signal more of the time it seems.
Do broadcasters of fm and Phone signals do something different in France and Europe I wonder or do they use superior kit.
I understand that in the UK we have "fifth" rate Broadband Equipment used by BT compared to some other countries, Is it the same with broadcasting signals here I wonder.
