Yes, I've (now) read the Manual and have noticed that there should be an icon for when TMC reception is valid. I don't think this works though; certainly it doesn't for me. I first mentioned this to Navman when they brought out the 550 with TMC and I was told that they'd look into providing a 'Reception' icon on the Navigation screen. This works on the iCN750 as described in the 7xx T1 Manual.

I wonder why it doesn't work on the 530?

The 'TMC lost' icon isn't, IMO, tied to a POI warning. Naturally it only shows if valid reception has occurred but, as you rightly say, it is essential to know when you are receiving valid TMC as well as when you've lost it. It will be interesting to hear if you get a reply.

:D WooHoo Fitted the magmount from Maplin's last night and suddenly the T1 is turbo charged. NOW its a usefull piece of kit.
Locked on at home within seconds, instead of half way round the M25 as it had been doing.
I don't really want a magmount aerial on the car, so at some point I'll try out some car fm aerials now that I have the old internal aerial to provide the cable and connector.
Navman seriously need to provide a better aerial.

Be interested if they fix the problem. What I find odd is that the 7xx software seems quite different. I know it has to add the camera function on but part of me wished I brough a 7xx as the software just 'looks' far more polished. If they all use the same add on device, you would think the base software code would be the same.
I hope they fix a few bugs with a service pack or something.

Had an email back from Navman re the missing icons..
:D "Dear Alan, I just need to know one thing, this may seem like a silly question but have you attached the power cable to the TMC and cigarrette lighter?"

Hmmm .. Are they trying to trick me ?

At least I got a response, I of course replied politely YES

Lets see what comes next...

Hi all :D

I purchased the iCN 720 + T1 ( too mean to buy the 750 - but can upgrade the maps if I need them in the future so not that bothered as mainly travel withinin the Uk all be it 30k+ per year)

Have been using it extensively over the past 3 weeks and it works great.

I also had some problems getting it to pickup reception but after trial and error on where the supplied aerial. Navman please do look at improving this in future versions ...

I can say being a Navman iCN 630 user for the past few years until recently the new improved software supplied on the iCN 7xx is brilliant, easier to use and is more polished than previous versions.

If you havn't trial one yet suggest you do as it is much better than older versions.
