Navman no altitude please read! dont be caught out

I have a navman pin 300 with smartST navigation software, when I try to use other software like Fugawi ordnance maps or GPSdash2 it will not show the altitude on either of them, this also includes all navman receivers!!

I have been on the phone to Navman quite a few times today and navman have come to the conclusion that the navman smartST has blocked the GPGGA output line in the nmea log, which basically means whatever software you want to use that has or can show you your altitude, will not work!

I am thinking perhaps if I did a full format of the pda and didnt add any of the SmartST navigation software, p and just install Fugawi or GPSdash2 perhaps it may work?

I don't really want to do this as I have lots of other programs that will take ages to set back up again, but if someone could asure me that it might work, perhaps I will go ahead and do a full reset......regards Mick
