Anybody know what type of external antenna is needed for the NVU50?
I think it needs an SMB plug but not sure.
The official Sony one is overpriced to say the least
cheers

I don't know the answer to that, but I do know that after much trial and error, the TMC signal in my car has been improved by:
Buying a 3 quid seven inch long metal aerial with a hole in the base from Maplin
Peeling back the plastic from the end of the supplied aerial wire and literally twisting it tightly through and around the base of the metal aerial
Running the aerial wire vertically up from the Sony, across the top of the windscreen, and then running the metal aerial down, so it forms three sides of a square. To add to the elegance, the end of the metal aerial I stick to the windscreen with bluetak.
That's given me TMC locks about 60-70% of the time, whereas previously I was getting about 40-50% at best. |

Dracuk. The Sony sits in the cradle and the ext gps connection is on the base . You would have to do a lot of fiddling around for it to connect and remain in contact. I paid £39 for my Sony ext GPS and it's a simple fit. |
