no youll have to change to the country map in each country manually though you could use the plus map to plan a route to a destination

The alternative is the seamless "Map of Western Europe on SD card" - £179.99

Depends where and how you want to use the card.

I made two trips with the separate maps loaded from CD onto a big card.

First trip was along the French /Belgian battlefields , Maginot line, Luxembourg and down to near Geneva. We were near the border and crossed it several times. The map switching was a real pain and almost made the GO unusable.

Second trip was through France to Spain and back. Map was switched on entering Spain and back again a few days later on returning to France. Crossing points were known in advance and the trip planned to those points, then the map was switched. No problem at all.

If you're going straight there on main roads then you should use the "plus" map of Germany from the CD set. This will give you the main roads through France and Belgium/Holland, then, when you get to Germany the map detail will increase and you will see your destination in detail. No need to switch maps.

Or you could just download the DE, AT, CH, PL and CZ map from TomTom PLUS. I believe that this map is a "plus" map. And it's only 59.95 Euros (£40).

It is so easy to switch country maps, and if you travel using a plus map (which means the map includes all the major roods of Europe) then you only need to change maps to street level detail when you get near your destination. This takes about five seconds and is easy to do at a set of lights, or at a custom stop etc. I don't know why people worry about switching maps. For the record I regulalry drive in UK, France, Germany and the Low Countries and use a single plus map and the rest as non-plus maps.

I was thinking about buying a Road angle Radar detectors for my trip but was told that they are generally illegal to use/and to have in one's possession in Europe.

The next best thing is to get the map of Europe and then upload the speed camera database for Europe from http://www.scdb.info/en/plugin-tomtom-go/

Hopefully this will work just as well

These are the map i was thinging about getting http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9731933360&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
