Medion MD40600 crash help

My MD40600 has died.

I did a restore of everything from a backup and the available memory went down to almost zero. When I created the backup this wasn't the case. So I decided to do a hard reset (the switch inside the battery cover) and reinstall everything from scratch. It now won't boot. When I move the switch to on, I get the MDWWER07, then the picture of the woman then nothing.

The really frustrating thing, and what leads me to suspect this is a fault with the MD40600, is that exactly the same thing happened to another unit I had (same model, slightly different circumstances, but same result).

Are there any tricks to force a complete reset to factory settings that I don't know about? I've tried leaving it with the battery out for an hour.

I've a 600 mile trip through France on Sunday, so any help would be much appreciated.
