nuvi, US maps?

Dear All,

I noticed on the Garmin website that the nuvi uses city navigator nt maps.

The city navigator nt maps can be bought on sd card for about $200 from websites such as provantage.com. One worry is that no map version is given in the description of the product, on this website and others.

These, combined with the full european coverage nuvi, should give full mapping for north america and europe.

Just wondering if anyone had tried the US maps SD card that is available, in their pre-loaded EU nuvi, with success? ...as I'm looking for alternatives to the problematic TomTom 910.

And.. is it possible to load all of the maps onto a very big SD card to avoid card swapping?

What are the typical upgrade costs of the maps when garmin updates them, are they upgradable? If so, how much does this usually cost?
