tom tom map help

hello all , my mate has a tomtom 300 as is off to france tomorrow, he has now got the france map and wants to put in onto his tomtom 300. my question is how do you do it?? . every time he puts the map on his sd ( 1 gig might i add ), the tom tom does not wok?? why??

need sorting asap any replys willbe a big help

Where did he get his new map from? TT's maps are copy protected and have to be activated using an activation code. Has he got that?
