At last through trial & error i have loaded speed cameras and poi's - great - then guess what I now appear to have deleted/blocked the map -Navigaor Europe V8 - the unit says "please use the provided pc software to load the maps" - what pc software and how do I do it - funny thing is that when i put the sd card in the pc card reader the maps appear to still be on the card - GMAPSUP.IMG IMG FILE 166MB & GMAPSUPP.UNL UNL FILE 1KB - Have i just blocked the map temporarily or is it a contact garmin job (i hope not!)

The software it refers to is called "Mapsource" and the map product you need is "City Navigator Europe v8".

Some Garmin units come with Mapsource and the maps on CD and others don't. If you don't have the CD then you will probably have to contact Garmin and ask them if they will send you one.

I cant understand what you have done because pois are loaded into internal memory not onto the sd card.
Remove the grey fascia from the garmin ( lift from the cutout on the top edge) and try pressing the reset button,see if that helps.

If you made a backup on your pc when first purchasing the unit you would only have to copy them back to the card from the pc.
